Nixle - Emergency Notification Service

The Denville Police Department has teamed up with Nixle in order to notify residents of important and valuable information. When we create and publish messages through the Nixle Community Information Service, Nixle will deliver this information to you instantly as a text message and/or e-mail, depending on which notifications you choose to receive. Notifications can also be accessed online at Nixle's website.

Messages may include information on recent crimes, descriptions of missing endangered persons, road closures and other relevant safety and community event information. Each message will be assigned one of three notification categories:

  • Alert - time sensitive, need-to-know information that may require proactive action on your part.
  • Advisory - need-to-know information that is not time sensitive.
  • Community - messages that are more informational in nature.

The service is reliable and spam free. More importantly, there are no hidden costs to sign up and use the service.  When signing up for the service, you decide what type of notifications you want to receive and whether you will receive them by text message or e-mail.

To receive Alert and Advisory text messages on your cellphone, text 07834 to 888777.  Note: if you also have an e-mail address attached to your Nixle profile (usually done when signing up online), Advisory messages will only be sent via e-mail.

To receive Alert, Advisory and Community messages via e-mail, follow the Sign Up link above or the Nixle Registration Page and complete the online form.  Note: if you have already registered your cellphone number and would like to continue to receive Alert messages as a text message, do not enter your cell number when registering your e-mail address, only provide an e-mail address when registering.

To receive Alert, Advisory and Community messages as push notifications on your smartphone, download the Everbridge app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.  In addition to receiving the push notifications, you can also view all recently sent messages in the app.  Using the app is the easiest and best method to ensure that you receive all message types directly on your cellphone.
